Décès d'Adolphe Mellier

C'est avec tristesse que nous avons appris le décès, lundi 19 juillet, de Monsieur Adolphe Mellier.

Ancien étudiant et Professeur de cuisine individuelle à l'EHL durant près de 35 ans, d'abord à l'Avenue de Cour puis sur le site du Chalet-à-Gobet, Adolphe Mellier était passionné de photographie et de vidéo. Passion qu'il mit au service de l'EHL en devenant le photographe officiel pendant de nombreuses années.

Initiated by the Career Club, a student run committee at EHL, the Young Hoteliers Summit will provide a unique opportunity for participants to exchange knowledge and ideas, demonstrate their skills through friendly competition and to add to their professional network.

Held at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne on the 28th and 29th January 2010, the YHS will be the first student run hospitality summit bringing together students from prestigious hotel schools around the world.

En ouvrant un lieu original, une petite boutique de décoration raffinée nommée SophieK, avec café intégré, où (presque) tout peut être acheté: le sofa sur lequel vous êtes assis, les tasses à café, les bougies ou encore les tableaux qui décorent les murs.

The Board of Governors of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michel Rochat, currently General Director of Higher Education for the Canton of Vaud as General Director of EHL. Between 2003 and 2008 Mr. Rochat was at the head of the University of Applied Sciences Vaud, covering six specialised universities of applied sciences in the Canton, including the School of Business and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD) and the University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL), and has shown proof of superior management capacities and a strong strategic vision.

Sparkling Night @ EHL

Une semaine après l'inauguration de l'espace Peter Barakat par les "anciens du Rugby" sur le campus, la soirée de Gala Sparkling Night at EHL du 3 octobre dernier a remporté un franc succès. Grâce à la participation de nombreux anciens, membres de la communauté EHL et amis, ce ne sont pas moins de CHF 200'000 qui ont été récoltés en faveur du Fonds de Bourses de l’EHL – Peter Barakat.

On August 17, members of the Brazil Chapter had the pleasure to meet Mr. Ruud Reuland at the outstanding Hotel Fasano - Ipanema, managed by Cristiana Kastrup (EHL 1991). The visit of EHL’s General Director gave Brazilian alumni the opportunity to share their concerns regarding the school and to learn more about what’s going on at Le Chalet-à-Gobet. The upcoming EHL Alumni Congress in Brazil in 2010 was not forgotten in the discussions, and all are really looking forward to welcoming alumni from all over the world.

Carrières de femmes

Il y a 85 ans, l’Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne faisait figure de pionnier en accueillant sa première classe mixte à une époque où la plupart des écoles appliquaient encore une séparation des classes. Depuis, ce sont près de 8500 femmes qui se sont succédées sur les bancs de la doyenne des écoles hôtelières. Dans un environnement économique encore très masculin, elles ont contribué à féminiser l’accès à certaines positions et à ouvrir la voie aux futures générations de femmes dans le secteur. Gros plan sur quelques carrières et le management au féminin.
